The Perfect Pit Stop: Our Stay at Village Camp Resort in Flagstaff, AZ
We’re the kind of family that loves the wild—dirt under our feet, no cell service, a fire crackling in the Solo Stove. That’s our happy place. So, when we pulled into Village Camp Resort in Flagstaff, Arizona, we weren’t sure what to expect. Was it a little more “boojie” than our usual style? Absolutely. But did we love it? 100% yes.
We’re learning that parenthood—especially the RV kind—requires balance. A bit of roughing it, and a bit of knowing when the whole crew needs a break. Village Camp felt like one big exhale. It wasn’t just the kids who needed space to run and play—we did too. Sometimes, the grown-ups need a reset just as much as the toddlers.

Tucked into the forest just outside Flagstaff, Village Camp somehow manages to feel like both a luxury resort and a peaceful mountain escape. Think: modern cabins, roomy RV sites, and next-level amenities you don’t usually find at a campground. We’re talking a stunning clubhouse with a restaurant and bar, a pool and hot tub, cozy fire pits, a stage for live music, and a playground that was an instant hit with the kids. After several days on the road, it felt like a full-body sigh of relief.
We’ve done enough road tripping to know that at some point, everyone needs a reset. The kids need space to roam, we need to do laundry (because, yikes), and hot showers become a dream. Village Camp delivered all that and more.
Instead of checking into a hotel or Airbnb—and trying to keep two little ones quiet in a room—this gave us the perfect middle ground. We stayed in our camper (always a win), slept in our own beds, and let the girls run around without a constant stream of “shhh.”
One of my favorite moments from our stay? Watching the girls fall back into their rhythms—playing, exploring, belly-laughing. Maya instantly found new campground friends (as usual), and Leo discovered the pure joy of climbing and sliding down the same playground ladder about 34 times in a row.
And for us? We got to sit back with a glass of wine by the fire, listen to live music, and forget about bedtime routines for just one night.
Location –
Nestled in the pines, just minutes from downtown Flagstaff, 45 mins to Sedona, and 90 mins to the Grand Canyon.
Family-Friendly – The playground was a hit, and the whole place felt genuinely welcoming to families.
Amenities – Laundry, showers, a restaurant and bar, fire pits, pool, hot tub… all of it.
Community Feeling – The clubhouse had this warm, indoor-outdoor vibe. We grabbed drinks and played lawn games with the kids.

The more we travel, the more we appreciate places that give us room to breathe. Village Camp didn’t just give us that—it wrapped it in pine trees, warm showers, and kind smiles. There’s a magic in that mix of comfort and nature, especially after long days of highway miles, gas station snacks, and toddler tantrums over granola bar brands.
It’s the kind of stop that reminds you why you do this—why you trade consistency for connection, why you pack up your whole family and hit the road.
If you’re on a longer road trip, this is the kind of place that fills everyone’s cup. A true pause before hitting the road again. No, it’s not our usual rugged setup—but that’s what made it great.
We’d absolutely stay at Village Camp Resort again and recommend it to any road-tripping family looking to recharge without giving up the camper.
Because sometimes, the real adventure isn’t climbing a peak—it’s in finding the right place to rest, reset, and remember why you started this whole journey in the first place.

Hi! We are the Amaros! Making memories and havin' fun!
The kids are growing at a fast pace and time seems to be flying in front of our own eyes.
Trying not to take any of this for granted and enjoying our trips and time spent together to the fullest!
We booking our next trip as we speak!
Camping with kids… we’ve learned a few things the hard way 😅
1. It’s not a vacation
It’s parenting… just outside.
2. Not enough snacks = big mistake
Hungry kids (and Fonzie 😉) + no snacks = instant meltdown. This might be the most overpacked item we bring now.
3. Ignoring the weather
If they’re uncomfortable, everyone feels it.
4. Overplanning the day
Less plans = happier everyone.
We’ve learned to aim for one main activity a day… anything else is a bonus.
5. Long drive days
What worked before kids… doesn’t anymore.
3 hours is our sweet spot, anything longer and we’re pushing it with Ellie 😅
6. Same hikes as pre-kids
Different pace, different expectations.
We still hike, but it’s a lot of motivation happening for the girls… so one good hike per trip is the goal. (Also… hiking if really my thing, everyone else just goes a long with it)
7. No “do nothing” time
Turns out, those are the best moments. Slowing down, letting them play, just being.
And still… we wouldn’t change it for the world. 🤍🌲
The chaos, the lessons, the little in-between moments that’s what keeps us coming back. Knowing that this time where the kids are super present with us is short and we want to make sure we seize these moments!

We keep coming back to this…
It feels like it’s not just about homeschool vs. traditional school anymore. It’s about trying to prepare our kids for a world we can’t fully picture yet.
With AI and technology moving so fast…what will work even look like in 20 years? What skills will actually matter?
And then there’s homeschooling. The freedom sounds beautiful, more time together, learning through real life, following their curiosity.
But also… the weight of it.Am I doing enough?Am I qualified? Are they getting what they need… socially, emotionally, academically?
Some days it feels exciting.Other days, honestly, a little overwhelming.
We don’t think there’s a perfect answer, just different paths, and a lot of figuring it out as we go.
But with Maya possibly starting school in August, it feels like a decision we can’t keep putting off.
We wonder if anyone is going through this right now and what are the thoughts about this in our social media community?

One thing we love about traveling through Europe with kids… they’re truly welcome everywhere.
Restaurants don’t feel like a battle. Kids menus aren’t frozen nuggets and fries, just smaller portions of the same good food everyone else is eating.
There are fewer rules, less side-eye, and more space for kids to just be kids.
Climbing, falling and figuring things out are all part of growing up.
And honestly… it feels pretty beautiful to watch.
