So fun story, I used to come to this campground with the same Michigan crew over 30 years ago! I remember cracking my head open, pulling my arm out of socket, and all us cousins tearing it up on our bikes. Great memories!
This time, it was fun to relive those moments but from our parent’s lens minus all the accidents! It’s crazy how time flies and it’s now all of us cousins and our kids running around causing a muck!

This 75° San Diego weather has us deep in summer vibes and thinking back to our time in Michigan last summer with their cousins.
This day felt straight out of an early-2000s movie, that Now and Then, Sandlot energy, where kids were just kids. No screens. Just swimming, running around outside, talking nonstop, and eating convenience-store bags of chips with cheesy fingers while solving life’s biggest kid problems.
As adults, these are the days we’d give anything to step back into for just a moment. The kind of childhood fun that was simple, carefree, and completely in the now.
Our kids probably won’t remember this exact day either, but we hope they remember the feeling because it was a really good one.

The world feels heavy right now. Our hearts go out to the individuals and communities directly affected by all of it.
We’ll continue teaching our kids empathy and kindness through travel, because when you experience new places, cultures, and traditions, you gain perspective. You listen more. You judge less.
Right now, the world doesn’t need more certainty.
It needs more curiosity.
More empathy.
More kindness.
