Our first time seeing her, and she greeted us with one hell of a sunset. Mount Rainier, you’re even more beautiful than we ever imagined.
I’ve never been brought to tears by nature before, and we’ve seen a lot of stunning landscapes, but something about this moment broke me open. She was sitting there, glowing in pinks, oranges, and purples, the air was perfect, the windows were down, and the kids had just fallen asleep after a long, hard car ride.
It was quiet, it was still, and it was everything. A moment I’ll close my eyes and try to feel again for the rest of my life.

Nothing says summer like a county fair, where the rides are a little janky, the food is questionable (for our stomach and the wallet), and the charm is endless.
On our way to Mount Rainier National Park, we spotted a field being transformed into what would become the King County Fair and that big beautiful mountain smiling in the background. The sign promised a rodeo, kids’ animal barn, and more. We knew right then we’d have to circle back the 2 hours after our park adventures.
And wow, it did not disappoint. This was the girls’ first time ever on fair rides (still feeling sad about the “credit card” ride tickets, what happened to the old school paper stubs?!). County bands playing, ferris wheel lights glowing, the animal barn full of excitement, it was pure small-town magic.
Then as the sun set, Mount Rainier silhouetted in the background made the whole scene feel legendary.
King County thanks for giving us one of those simple, beautiful memories we’ll always treasure. 💛

We didn’t overthink this one, just saw the trail time, jumped in the truck, and went.
The drive in was beautiful 🌲and a little nerve-wracking (for Sara specially) on those rocky one-lane roads.
At the trailhead, it was calm. We could see Mount Rainier 🏔peeking through the trees, and the sun was setting so had to get moving.
These are the hikes we love, quiet, almost empty, and Piper 🐕 right there with us.
For some reason we thought we’d find a waterfall at the top, but instead we got something even better…a massive alpine lake waiting for us.
it was an unreal moment!
We live for these moments… unexpected, raw, and unforgettable.
